Consumer confidence drops further in June

Economy

Ljubljana - Slovenia's consumer confidence in June decreased by two percentage points on the month before and 16 percentage points year-on-year in what is a decline for the second month in a row, the Statistics Office said on Wednesday.

The decrease in the confidence indicator at the monthly level was driven by more pessimistic consumer expectations about the financial situation in households (down by four points), the current financial situation in households (down by three) and the country's economic situation (down by two).

Meanwhile, consumer expectations about major purchases remained at the same level as in May.

Consumer sentiment deteriorated at the annual level as well, with all four sub-indicators turning down.

Expectations about household finances dropped by 26 points, about the country's economic situation by 22 points, about major purchases by nine points and about the households' current financial situation by eight points.

The consumer confidence indicator was also lower than last year's average, down by eleven points.
