ICT sector increases value added by 10% in 2020
Ljubljana - Slovenian ICT companies generated EUR 4.55 billion in revenue in 2020, which was 2% more than the year before and 34% more that a decade earlier. Their value added reached EUR 1.74 billion, which was 10% more than in 2019, and the number of people working in the sector exceeded 30,000.
Data from the Statistics Office shows that over 9,000 companies were registered as ICT companies in 2020, a 3% increase over 2019 and a 67% increase over 2011.
The increase in the number of ICT companies in 2011-2020 was highest in software development companies, reaching 85%.
Compared to 2011, value added generated by the sector in 2020 was 54% higher. Here too, the boost of software companies is evident.
In 2011, 48% of value added was generated by telecoms companies, while in 2020 software companies accounted for 51% of the EUR 1.74 billion.
Per employee, value added reached EUR 56,702 in 2020, compared to EUR 50,830 in 2011. Some 30,600 people worked in the sector two years ago, 5% more than in 2019 and 38% more than in 2011, the Statistics Office said.
In total, companies paid out EUR 812 million in salaries, 59% more than in 2011.
