Industrial output drops slightly in June
Ljubljana - The value of industrial production was down 0.2% in June compared to May, driven by declines in all relevant fields. It continued to increase year-on-year though, as it was 0.8% higher than in June 2021. The value in the first half of the year was also 2.9% higher on the annual level, the Statistics Office said on Wednesday.
After three months of growth, the monthly drop in June is a result of declines in mining and quarrying, which recorded a 6.8% drop, in electricity, gas and steam production, where output was down by 0.7%, and in manufacturing, which contracted by 0.6%.
Year-on-year, the upward trend has been recorded for the fourth consecutive month. Industrial production in June was 3.4% higher in manufacturing, but 28.7% lower in energy, gas and steam production and 14% lower in mining.
In the first six months of this year, mining output was up 15.6% year-on-year and in manufacturing the value was up 4.7%. On the other hand, there was a 17.8% decline in electricity, gas and steam supply due to unfavourable conditions for hydro power plants.
Industrial revenue in June was up 0.2% month-on-month and 18.6% year-on-year. In the first half of the year, the figure increased by 18.3% on the annual basis.
Inventories in June rose by 2.8% on May and by 26.6% year-on-year. In the January-June period, the figure was up by 21.8%.
