Ljubljana - A total of 1,582 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Slovenia during the extended weekend and nine fatalities among Covid-19 patients. Friday included, 11 patients died and 3,156 new infections were confirmed, data released by the Health Ministry shows.

Compared to the week before the infection figures are somewhat lower, with cases going down by 2.8% on Friday, falling by roughly 9% on Saturday, but increasing by 2.4% on Sunday. This Monday being a public holiday, the figure is not really comparable to the week before when 2,402 new cases were reported.

Yesterday, 92 patients were treated in hospitals for Covid-19 as their main condition, including 9 in intensive care, which compares to 104 and 15, respectively, a week ago.

Data from the National Institute of Public Health shows the 14-day case notification rate per 100,000 of the population falling to 846 and the 7-day case average is down to 1,118.
