More than 2,500 Covid cases logged in past three days

Ljubljana - A total of 2,664 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Slovenia from Friday to Sunday in what is practically level with the figure a week ago, fresh official data shows. A total of three Covid patients died.

Compared to the week before, the combined case count is nearly 2% up. Infection figures went up by some 7% to 1,681 on Friday in weekly comparison, rose by 1% on Saturday, but declined by 14% on Sunday.

Yesterday, 94 patients were treated in hospitals for Covid-19 as their main condition, including eight in intensive care, which compares to 92 and nine, respectively, a week ago.

Data from the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) shows the 14-day case notification rate per 100,000 of the population dropping by two to 884 and the 7-day case average falling by eleven to 1,258.

NIJZ estimates there are currently 18,700 active cases in the country, down by 46 compared to the previous day and a decrease of 1,315 compared to the same day a week ago.
