Roglič blames Wright for La Vuelta crash
Ljubljana - Slovenian cycling star Primož Roglič, who had to leave La Vuelta prematurely after he was heavily bruised in a crash in the 16th stage, is at home with his family nursing his injuries. He is disappointed the crash prevented him from his fourth consecutive victory and blames the Bahrain Victorious rider Fred Wright for the accident.
"This shouldn't have happen. People move on swiftly as if nothing happened. For me, this doesn't apply. This is not the way I want the sport to continue and I want to make that clear," he said in an interview for the website of his team, Jumbo Visma.
While he did not say whether he will be able to continue the season, Roglič struggles to come to terms with what happened.
"I asked myself: how can this be? My conclusion is that the way this crash happened is unacceptable. Not everyone saw it correctly. The crash was not caused by a bad road or a lack of safety but by a rider's behaviour. I don't have eyes on my back. Otherwise, I would have run wide. Wright came from behind and rode the handlebars out of my hands before I knew it," he said.
