Over hundred migrants attempt to flee to Italy by train
Koper - More than a hundred foreigners from the Ljubljana and Logatec asylum centres, mostly from Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Burundi, attempted to leave the country for Italy by train on Tuesday. They were caught by police.
The Koper police were notified of a large number of foreigners travelling by train from Ljubljana to Italy at 7pm.
The train was inspected at the station in Divača at 8:30pm to determine that it carries more than a hundred foreigners who had left the Ljubljana and Logatec asylum centres.
The Koper police said today that 103 persons from the two centres had been on the train. 38 people were from Afghanistan, 25 from India, 12 from Burundi, 13 from Nepal, five from Pakistan, three from Cuba, two each from Congo and Cameroon and one each from Bangladesh, Ghana and Guinea.
The foreigners were taken to police stations to be processed for illegal crossing of the border.
