Housing prices up almost 16% y/y in Q2
Ljubljana - Prices of residential properties in Slovenia continued to increase in the second quarter of the year to rise 3.5% above the average in the previous quarter and 15.6% above the prices seen a year ago. However, the value of transactions has declined year-on-year, data from the Statistics Office shows.
Prices of new homes rose by 9.5% on the previous quarter to more than make up for a 6.8% decline the quarter before. While prices of new family houses remained flat, new apartments came 11.8% costlier.
Prices of existing homes increased by 2.9% from the first quarter where family houses were came 3.3% costlier and the prices of apartments rose by 2.7%.
The most substantial increase in the existing apartments market was recorded in Maribor, at a quarterly rate of 4%, followed by Ljubljana (2.6%) and by the rest of the country (2.5%).
Year-on-year, prices of existing apartments rose by 17.2%, as prices of existing family houses increased by 14.7% and new apartments came 13.2% costlier. Only prices of new family houses dropped, by 2.5%.
The total value of all transactions in the second quarter was still up by 3% when compared to the first quarter but dropped by a tenth year-on-year to EUR 449 million.
