POP TV poll shows government enjoys record rating
Ljubljana - The government of Robert Golob enjoys the highest support since the election, shows the latest poll by Mediana for commercial broadcaster POP TV. Almost 59% of respondents support the cabinet, marginally higher than last month. The ruling Freedom Movement is the the most popular party and the PM the most popular politician.
The Freedom Movement lost half a percentage point compared to August to poll at 30.9%. The biggest opposition party, the Democrats (SDS), follows with 17.9%, down 5.5 percentage points.
The junior coalition Social Democrats (SD) are in third place, with their support rising by 0.6 percentage points to 5.6%.
The opposition New Slovenia (NSi) and the coalition Left both saw a drop in support, going from 5.5% to 4.8% and from 5.3% to 4.4% in the last month, respectively.
The only non-parliamentary party close to the parliamentary threshold is the anti-establishment party Resni.ca, polling at 3.6%. Other parties have less than 2%.
PM Rober Golob remains the most popular politician, followed by Health Minister Danijel Bešič Loredan and President Borut Pahor, who has slipped from second to third place.
Parliamentary Speaker Urša Klakočar Zupančič is fourth and presidential candidate and SDS MP Anže Logar is fifth.
Pollster Mediana carried out the poll among 729 respondents between 19 and 22 September.
