Electricity production down by almost a quarter Y/Y in August
Ljubljana - Slovenia's net electricity production in August was down 24% year-on-year to 1013 gigawatt-hours, while the production of hydropower plants more than halved in annual comparison, fresh data from the Statistics Office show.
Thermal power stations saw their production drop by 25%, and nuclear plants by 3% year-on-year.
Compared to the previous month, the production was down by 8% at hydropower plants, and by 1% at nuclear power plants, while thermal power stations increased production by 7%.
In August, Slovenia imported 604 gigawatt-hours of electricity, a 11% increase year-on-year, while export was down by 23% compared to figures from August 2021 to 599 gigawatt-hours. Compared to July, import dropped by a quarter, and export by 21%.
Household consumption in August hit 235 gigawatt-hours, down 2% month-on-month, while businesses decreased consumption by 5% with 628 gigawatt-hours. A year-on-year comparison is not yet available.
Fuel consumption also decreased due to thermal power stations reaching lower production figures. Total fuel consumption thus dropped by 29% on a yearly level.
