In Your Pocket, a European city guide publisher, has declared the winners of its 12th annual Best of Ljubljana competition. More than 100,000 readers, the biggest number yet, have cast their vote to pick their favourite cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs, shopping, cultural venues, and experiences.

This year the voting was split into six main categories, with between five and 14 sub-categories. The voters picked as many as 50 winners among 450 local businesses.

The 2023 Best of Ljubljana culture category features five winners; Ljubljana City Museum was chosen best museum and Cukrarna Gallery best gallery. Kino Šiška was picked best theatre and the Ana Desetnica street festival best annual event.

Ljubljana Zoo scooped the best outdoor activity title and Bankarium, the Slovenian Banking Museum, won best indoor fun. The winners in their respective subcategories also include Ljubljana Castle Tour and Open Kitchen outdoor food court. Velika Planina was chosen best destination for a trip in the region.

The restaurants section featured by far the largest number of winners. Ošterija Pr' Noni was selected best Slovenian restaurant, Cantina Mexicana best world cuisine restaurant, Cubo best business lunch restaurant and Verace best pizza place, while Hood Burger is arguably the place to go for best burgers. Igor Jagodic from Strelec was voted best Ljubljana chef.
