"This is a regular visit" which is dedicated to examining Slovenia's budget, efforts to fix the ailing banking sector, privatisation and the reform of the pension system and labour market, Šušteršič said on the sidelines of the FDI Summit conference.

The minister, who was scheduled to meet the delegation today, explained the IMF has shown interest in the government's legislative proposals, including the bill on a band bank and the Slovenian Sovereign Holding.

"They have shown great interest in this, as these are new policies for Slovenia."

The minister denied that the IMF mission was being any more thorough in its visit than in the past due to the economic conditions in Slovenia.

"There is no troika for Slovenia, even though all these institutions, including the European Commission, will be paying visits to Slovenia as part of their regular duties."

Šušteršič said the delegation, which is being hosted by central bank Banka Slovenije, will be in Slovenia until 2 October. "At the end of the visit they will present their impressions and recommendations."

The IMF delegation also met in Ljubljana behind closed doors today members of the parliamentary Finance and Monetary Policy Committee.

The head of the committee said the IMF representatives had highlighted three things: the need to insert the golden fiscal rule into the Constitution, the fixing of the banking system, and the securing of capital for new investments.

"I'm very happy they agreed with the main measures for taking Slovenia out of the crisis," šircelj said, adding that the potential need for a bailout was not discussed today. "Of course we can save ourselves," he said.
