He underlined that Slovenia can overcome the current crisis. Despite problems, hope for a better future is strong enough to overcome fear and low spirits, according to Pahor.

Courage and defiance are necessary to face the problems at hand. "And we will tackle them," the president wrote.

Pahor urged Slovenians to do "every once in a while something that is good for everybody and makes others happy". By helping others, we make ourselves happy, he said.

Solidarity and the feeling of belonging mark the beginning and the end of every community. "Ours as well," said the president. They will also determine Slovenia's ability to tackle the massive problems of this crisis, he added.

"Have faith in yourselves and each other. Respect and encourage each other...We must be decisive but tolerant and we will succeed."
