Slovenia's David Rodman scored twice in the second quarter to keep Slovenia ahead, before a stellar defence kept the hosts at bay in the final quarter to book Slovenia a place at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

Rodman opened the scoring in the 24th minute, only to see Denmark's Nichlas Hardt draw scores level only a minute later. Remaining a thorn in Denmark's side, Rodman gave Slovenia the upper hand for good in the 37th minute.

Slovenia had defeated Belarus in the four-team tournament on Thursday and today's second win secured them first place in the winner-take-all tournament.

In Sochi, Slovenia will play in group A, which features ice hockey juggernauts Russia, Slovakia and the US.

Group B will feature Canada, Finland and Norway and group C the Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland, while each group will be expanded with a qualifying team each.
