This is the first victory for Hvala in a World Cup competition. The 19-year-old has won two youth championships in the past.

"I am really happy. I did not expect to win today. After the test round I was a bit angry with myself because of a poor jump and this anger helped me in the first round. I also had luck with the wind," Hvala told Eurosport.

Hvala's victory comes only days after he and three of his team mates won the team event in Willingen on Saturday.
