President Consulting MPs over Candidate for Top National Auditor
After Šoltes recently announced his decision not to run for a second nine-year term, supreme state auditor Tomaž Vesel and head of the budget oversight office at the Finance Ministry Nataša Prah remain the only candidates for the post.
Following the consultations, Pahor will send his nomination to parliament by 12 April, his office said on Wednesday.
The National Assembly has 30 days to vote in secret ballot on the candidate, who needs at least 46 votes in the 90-seat legislature to get appointed.
Šoltes, whose term ends on 31 May, first applied for the job, but later changed his mind, citing disillusionment with the attitude to oversight bodies in the country.
