The exhibition is a result of the 11th art competition of two magazines for children, Cicido and Ciciban, as well as of a nursery school from the town of Ajdovščina.

The children could choose between four themes: my favourite fairy tale, song or puppet; we love sports; my planet; or lovely moments with art.

Over 2,700 works were sent in from almost 300 elementary and nursery schools, some institutions for the rehabilitation of handicapped children and individual parents.

The selection was made by a professional committee consisting of a professor from the Faculty of Education in Maribor, Tomaž Zupančič, sculptor Alenka Vidrgar and painter Azad Karim, art teacher Silva Karim, as well as Cicido and Ciciban editor Maja Žugič.

Their most important criterion was that the work had to be genuine children's works made without the help of their parents.
