Dutch Village of Tulips Opens at Arboretum Volčji potok
As part of the 22nd great exhibition of tulips at the arboretum, several events promoting Dutch culture, customs and traditional crafts will be organised through 5 May.
The village features a dozen traditional Dutch houses, in which companies related to the Netherlands will be presented, an 11-metre wind mill and as many as two million tulips, says on the web site of Volčji potok.
Visitors will also be able to attend a fashion show of traditional Dutch clothing, get acquainted with the process of glassblowing and making of Dutch clogs, try some Dutch pancakes, take part in a florist competition and see an exhibition of works by Dutch artist Dirk Heij.
A special treat will be delivered by the Dutch band Oberkrainer, which will play hits by Slovenian accordion legend Slavko Avesnik.
Special activities for children marking Queen's Day, observed in the Netherlands on 30 April, and the crowning of the new king will also be organised.
