The only goal for Slovenia was scored by Rok Pajič in the 7th minute. Switzerland then scored three quick goals before the end of the first period to crush Slovenia's hope of staying among the elite.

As the match proceeded, Switzerland only confirmed their status as the favourite after already defeating Sweden, Canada and the Czech Republic in the preliminary phase of the championship to firmly secure their lead in Group A.

Slovenia are at the bottom of the group with a single point from the match with Denmark which they lost in overtime.

After a day off, Slovenia will face the Czech Republic on Friday.
