The festival organisers said on Tuesday that a concert dubbed Sax and Drums feat. Peter Brötzmann, Ken Vandermark, Hamid Drake & Chad Taylor would premiere at the Cankarjev dom arts centre on 3 July, giving Brötzmann plenty of opportunities for various combinations.
Also at Cankarjev dom a day later, Brötzmann will be joined by Mokhtar Gania on sintir and Hamid Drake on drums, while on 5 July, he will play with vibraphonist Jason Adasiewicz.
Brötzmann will have another concert at the Križanke open-air theatre on 6 July, when he is joined by contrabass player John Edwards and drummer Steve Noble in a composition that is the closest to his understanding of free jazz, according to organisers.
An exhibition, dubbed Peter Brötzmann Solo: Works 1959-2013, will feature his drawings, graphics, watercolours and paintings as well as posters and album artworks at the International Centre of Graphic Arts (MGLC) between 2 July and 25 August.
A photo exhibition, dubbed This Is Our Music!, will put Brötzmann's musical creativity in the spotlight through photos selected by acclaimed Slovenian photographer Žiga Koritnik.
Apart from that, the festival, which will this year run for the 54th time, will bring to the capital a number of other jazz musicians, including Macy Gray, who will perform with David Murray Infinity Quartet. Slovenian musicians will be represented by Cene Resnik Quartet and Dare Hočevar Trio.
