The founding committee, composed by the president Rade Šerbedžija and members Dunja Klemenc, Čedomir Kolar, Tanja Ribič, Nikola Kojo, Danijel Utješanović and Marko Gajič, have outlined the guidelines for the foundation and development of the Bled Film Festival, the first edition of which will take place in June 2014. At the first meeting, renowned filmmakers, supported by young enthusiasts from Bled, devoted their attention to the planning of the festival's programme, its visual image and organizational matters.

"The Bled Film Festival will be an engaged festival which will devote special attention, in addition to promoting the newest and quality films from all over the world and the region, to the importance of water and the preservation of water sources and other environmental issues, " pointed out Rade Šerbedžija, president of the founding committee and renowned actor with a Slovenian passport.

The programme outline of the first Bled Film Festival envisages a competition programme of full-length films and two programmes with the topic of water (documentaries and a programme for children). The programme will also include several events (panels, workshops) which will focus on the urgency of preserving water sources and other environmental issues. Plans also include a contest for young filmmakers who will create short films with the topic of environment protection using sophisticated and widely available technologies.

The organizers believe that the festival will draw the attention, as a platform for encouraging the expression of filmmakers and as an excellent medium, which uses the power of film to raise questions and propose solutions to urgent issues of protecting water sources and other environmental issues, of the Slovenian as well as the global public. At the same time, they believe that quality films, guests of a global format and interesting festival events will be an unforgettable experience and a magnet for the audience - for local people as well as tourists visiting Bled during that time.

"A carefully thought programme, an attractive location, an enthusiastic team and a wide web of supporters and friends of the new-born festival represent a guarantee for the organic growth and development of the festival and an assurance that in the future we will become a key player in the region as well as globally, " stressed Dunja Klemec, producer of the Oscar-winning film "No Man's Land" and member of the founding committee, at the first meeting.
