Sources at the European Commission said last week that the quality of the transfer is much more important than the deadlines. At that point, the possibility appeared that the initial pilot batch of transfers from NLB might not take place.

BAMC says that the pilot transfer will take place separately from the audit and stress tests commissioned by the European Commission and performed by auditor Deloitte and consultancy Oliver Wyman by the end of this week.

"BAMC is ready to accept the claims. The transfer agreement is also ready. This way the transfer will be the fastest," BAMC said in a press release.

BAMC however did not wish to comment on the warnings from the European Commission that time was running out and that Slovenia needed to put in more effort to tackle the problems of the banking sector.
