Hotels in the municipality of Piran had the occupancy of between 90 and 100% already at the end of July, while all hotels are expected to be full in the first half of August.

This is on par with last year's numbers and in line with the plans, the Portorož Tourism Association has told the STA.

It is expected that a quarter of all guests will be Slovenians, followed by Italians, Austrians, Germans and Russians. The number of Russians is increasing greatly this year, the association said.

In the first seven months of 2013, hotels in the municipality of Piran recorded a total of 627,084 overnight stays, or 3% more than in the same period last year.

In the port city of Koper, occupancy is expected to be at 80% in the first half of August, which is on par with last year's numbers. However, Koper also sees a lot of one-day tourists, who are not covered by statistics.

The structure of tourists in Koper is dominated by Slovenians (60%), who are followed by Italians, Austrians, Germans, Britons and Russians, the Koper Tourist Information Centre has told the STA.
