FIBA Europe President Cyriel Coomans joined the numerous participating teams, fans from around Europe and media outlets in praising Slovenia's efforts in hosting the tournament.

"The Slovenian organisers have done a great job," Coomans told the press in Ljubljana ahead of Sunday's final. He pointed out to the large number of visitors to the tournament. "The championships succeeded in being a festival of basketball," he said.

This was echoed by FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak, who highlighted that excellent organisation was that much harder to achieve in times of economic strife. "You need a lot of effort and will to organise things flawlessly in these times of crisis, but Slovenia pulled it off."

Head of the Slovenian Basketball Federation Roman Volčič highlighted the Slovenian team's achievements as a highlight of the tournament. He said that the event was also a major success in business terms and a major promotion of basketball among young people.

A total of 90 matches played at the tournament were watched by a total of 330,000 spectators, which amounts to 3,700 spectators per match. A total of 182,000 tickets were sold, which is 27% above plans, head of the local organising committee Aleš Križnar told the press.

Križnar said that a total of 55,000 foreign guests visited Slovenia during the tournament, which is almost double that anticipated by the organisers.

The total cost of the tournament without investment in infrastructure amounted to EUR 10m, while the organisers expect that revenues from ticket sales, hotel bookings, food and drinks, transport and sale of promotional articles will surpass EUR 40m.

"This means that the state has recouped the EUR 6m it paid to secure the hosting of the tournament through taxes. In addition to this, the promotional effects have exceeded that which any campaign could achieve," Križnar said.

The press conference on Sunday was followed by the presentation of Ukraine as the host of EuroBasket 2015. The Ukrainian delegation headed by president of its Basketball Federation Alexander Volkov admitted that the tournament in Slovenia will be a tough act to follow, but said that Ukraine was determined to organise the best tournament to date.
