Footbal: To Be or Not To Be for Slovenia
Slovenia will look to continue their four-game winning streak, which started with a June win against Iceland.
While Switzerland have already secured first place in the group and a ticket to Brazil, they will not be without motivation, as a win could secure them an easier draw for the tournament.
Meanwhile, Slovenia will be seeking a win while awaiting news from the match between Norway, who have been disqualified from World Cup contention, and Iceland, who are currently second in the group, one point ahead of Slovenia.
"We know that we have to win and play like in the match with Norway right from the beginning. I think that we have a great chance for success in Bern, as Switzerland have already qualified for the world championship," said Slovenia's Kevin Kampl.
Slovenia's head coach Srečko Katanec respects Switzerland and admits that the hosts are favourites. "They are euphoric now that they made it to the World Cup, and we'll see what this brings. It can turn either way."
In the first match between Slovenia and Switzerland in Ljubljana, the Swiss beat Slovenia 2:0.
Switzerland are heading Group E standings with 21 points, followed by Iceland (16), Slovenia (15), Norway (11), Albania (10) and Cyprus (4).
