The company's operations are severely impacted by the economic crisis and other factors, such as structural changes in the market, changes to tax rules and the opening of the EU postal market and associated competitive pressures, the company said.

Pošta Slovenije plans additional cost-cutting measures by the end of the year, including in the amount it spends on salaries and maintenance of the postal network. As part of the efforts, 150 post offices will be outsourced by 2016.

Long-term plans meanwhile revolve around new opportunities in logistics of goods and services, the company said, adding that the measures would enable the postal operator a "stable, sustainable and successful" future.
