Telekom Slovenije is the biggest among 15 companies which the Slovenian government wants to sell as part of the first stage of a new privatisation drive.

SOD said that Citigroup had extensive references in the area, including by acting as a financial adviser in the sale of Telekom Srbija and Romanian telco Romtelecom.

Citigroup will advise SOD on the best means and time for selling Telekom Slovenije, which Slovenian officials recently indicated would likely be sold by the end of next year.

SOD is offloading its holding in Telekom together with state-owned reinsurer Pozavarovalnica Sava and insurer Zavarovalnica Triglav. The total state-owned share in the telco stands at 72.75%.
