New EUR 63M High-Voltage Power Line Connected to Grid
The 2x400kV power line, which is more than 80 kilometres long, will allow the optimal transfer of electricity from the Posavje region (E), the biggest power producer in Slovenia, to the central part of the country, the state-owned power grid operator Eles said in a press release.
The dual system power line also enables additional transfer among neighbouring countries, contributing to more operational stability in the entire region.
Eles added that the new line will moreover allow greater access to cheaper energy and energy from renewable sources, while also contributing to a further integration of the European market.
The allegedly faulty management of the Beričevo - Krško power line investment was cited in February 2002 by the then Janez Janša government as the reason for the sacking of Eles director Milan Jevšenak.
