Playing in front of 2,500 spectators, the only goal of the match was scored by Valter Birsa in the second half. Despite several attacks on both sides, the teams failed to change the score by halftime.

At the beginning of second half both managers changed three players each and Slovenia took the lead in the 53rd minute. Birsa, who scored the winning goal, left the field half an hour before the end due to injury.
