The ministry said that Iran has "expressed important political will, which can be an important foundation for the needed improvement of relations between Iran and the broader international community".

The agreement between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany defines both Iran's activities for limiting the nuclear programme and incentives and procedures to eliminate sanctions offered by the international community.

This is a "first important step towards normalisation of the Iranian nuclear programme, which will have to be followed by further steps", the ministry added.
