If the snowfall comes in suddenly and gets prolonged into spring, not only do the farmers face the danger of snow mould, which will affect the quality and quantity of the harvest, it will also delay spring farm chores.

Beekeepers report unusual bee behaviour. Since some spring flowers have already begun to bloom, bees have started leaving their winter clusters and collecting pollen, Vlado Avguštin of the Beekeepers Association told the STA.

On the other hand, the current weather conditions do not severely affect game. In Slovenia, most game are mammals, which usually respond well to warm winter, Ivan Kos of the Hunting Association told the STA

It even bodes well for them since last year game mortality was pretty high, so the warm temperatures could result in stronger offspring.

However, even if most of forest animals can adapt well to this weather, it can have fatal consequences on non-vertebrates, Kos concluded.

No snowfall or freezing temperatures are to be expected in the next two weeks, meteorologist Andrej Pečenko said. In his opinion, despite above average temperatures, we should wait to see how the weather turns in February and March.
