Ski Flying: Peter Prevc Second in Kulm
The 41-year-old Japanese legend was in a class of his own with 391.6 points, leaving the second-placed Prevc more than 10 points behind and becoming the oldest ski jumper ever to win a World Cup event.
This is the fifth individual podium finish in Prevc's career in the World Cup. "I have to say that I'm very satisfied. I managed two high-level jumps," he told reporters after taking the podium.
It was a great team effort for Slovenia today as the reigning ski-flying world champion Robert Kranjec (357.2 points) was fifth and Jurij Tepeš (354 points) seventh.
Slovenian team coach Goran Janus was satisfied with his jumpers. "Perhaps we had expected slightly more following the qualifiers, but one needs to be realistic, and not be carried away. These are exceptional results."
Prevc is the best Slovenian this season, currently standing at the 7th overall place in the World Cup.
Another World Cup event will take place at the ski jumping hill above Bad Mitterndorf on Sunday. "Another day, another opportunity, another fight. We will try to eliminate the small mistakes we are still doing," Janus said.
