While moving the dishwasher production to Slovenia, Gorenje moved several other production lines to Serbia. According to Bobinac, the products built in Velenje today have much higher added value than those moved to Serbia.

Gorenje decided to move the dishwasher production line to Slovenia because Sweden was too expensive, said Bobinac, adding that the move was carried out without any major problems.

The dishwasher Asko development department and marketing division have however remained in Vara, Sweden. Bobinac said that the production moves will save the group at least EUR 20m annually.

The dishwasher production line is of great significance for Gorenje because it is the most automatised line and it will enable the group to develop the Asko brand on a global level.

Gorenje does not plan any additional production moves in the short-term. The company does however plan to develop new production locations in Slovenia and Serbia as part of Gorenje's cooperation with Panasonic.

Gorenje entered into a strategic partnership with Panasonic in 2013 under which the the Japanese electronics maker acquired a minority share in Gorenje as part of a partnership deal on cooperation in research and development, production and sales.
