According to meteorologist Jure Cedilnik, temperatures will remain low today and on Tuesday, while warmer temperatures with a southerly wind are expected on Wednesday.
A bora wind is still blowing in Postojna and Ilirska Bistrica in the south-west, causing additional difficulties, and an additional 10cm of snow has fallen in certain parts of the country over the night.
The Environment Agency (ARSO) meanwhile lifted the red alert for the whole country, which was issued on Sunday afternoon as persisting sleet and snow caused further disruption to traffic and power supply.
According to Cedilnik, snow and rain will stop in the afternoon, while more precipitation is expected tomorrow in western and central Slovenia.
An estimated 150,000 households and other consumers are still without power supply. The power distributor for the south-western regions of Notranjsko and Primorsko has estimated that around 11,500 homes in the area are still cut off. Many roads in the area are closed due to ice or fallen trees.
The number of homes without electricity in the north-eastern region of Podravje increased over the night due to additional damage to the power supply network. According to power distributor Elektro Maribor, the number currently stands at around 44,000 homes.
Around 75% of schools and kindergartens across the country will be closed today due to the weather conditions, most of them in Notranjsko and Primorsko, according to the Education Ministry.
Sleet and fallen trees are also causing trouble in railway traffic, according to the national operator Slovenske železnice. Airline traffic is meanwhile carried out without delays.
