President to Call Euroelection

Nekategorizirano

EU member states must carry out the European Parliament elections between 22 and 25 May. The vote in Slovenia is most likely to be held on Sunday, 25 May, as the country always holds elections Sundays.

Electoral Commission director Dušan Vučko has previously said that the president could also decide to call the vote for Saturday, which is also not a work day, however that is not very likely.

This will be the third euroelection in Slovenia since the country joined the EU in 2004. Voters will elect eight MEPs who will represent the country in a five-year term.

The parliament passed in late January changes to the European Parliament elections act, simplifying the candidacy procedures of candidates without Slovenian citizenship.

Moreover, the ballots at this European Parliament will for the first time ever indicate alliances between national and EU parties.
