President to Nominate Cerar PM-Designate on Tuesday

The news comes after it was widely expected that he would do so on Monday, 18 August, following a three-day round of consultations with deputy faction leaders earlier this week.

Pahor believes Cerar enjoys sufficient support to get elected prime minister in parliament, his office added.

The date of the parliamentary session at which MPs will vote on Cerar's nomination will be set by the speaker of the National Assembly.

Since Pahor will sign a document on Cerar's nomination on Tuesday at 1 PM, the vote can be held on Thursday at 1 PM at the earliest, but not later than seven days after the nomination is sent to parliament.

Pahor and Cerar will address the press after the nomination document is signed.

Pahor's office made a point in highlighting that the president will nominate the prime minister-designate 12 days before the deadline.
