Several activities and events aimed at promoting alternative ways of transportation will be organised across the country, while some municipalities will introduce permanent changes to their traffic systems.

The Ljubljana city municipality will this year strive to bring to life the streets which enable people to spend quality time together, socialize, and attend cultural and sports events.

The capital will also present six permanent measures, including a new city bus line, a bus card for the disabled, new environmentally-friendly methane buses and a new bicycle track in the central Tivoli park.

So far, Ljubljana has been rewarded twice for successful implementation of measures and activities in the mobility week.

In Maribor, the focal point will be the Mobility Centre, operating in the city centre since January as the first such centre in the country. Here, all information in connection to the campaign will be available.

During the European Mobility Week, special discounts will be available for public transportation tickets and bicycle rental.

Today, a round table on mountain cycling will be organised, on Wednesday the mobility of the disabled will be debated, while Thursday will be dedicated to bicyclists. On Friday alternative forms of mobility will be promoted along with locally produced food.

Novo mesto will in September offer free city bus rides and free bicycle rentals.

Last year, 1,931 cities from 47 countries participated in the campaign. So far 8,623 permanent measures were introduced to improve the infrastructure for bicyclists and pedestrians, modernise public transportation and promotion of sustainable means of urban travel.
