Before the plenary session gets under way in the afternoon, separate meetings will feature members of university initiatives and living labs, representatives of development agencies and SAP users from the region, as well as the Women's Innovation Council.

The conference will see presentations of several interoperability solutions for cooperation among hospitals and local food suppliers, as well as recommendations and solutions for the promotion of health on the job.

Other topics include cloud computing, cross-border cooperation between media and regional cooperation to compete for funds in the EU research and innovation programme Horizon 2020.

Concrete pilot projects to be presented this year include cross-border e-cooperation among young entrepreneurs, door-to-door food distribution, local e-produce market and a personal health assistant for mobile applications.

In a bid to promote cooperation in the eSilk and eAmber roads initiative, the conference will also be attended by a delegation from China's Shanghai.
