In line with the agreement, these will also include lay-offs, but these will be minimised "as much as possible".

It is not clear yet how many of Helios employees will lose their job, but the union and the management agreed after five months of negotiations that in order to survive the group must adjust to the situation on the market.

The group's sales revenue dropped from EUR 338.1m in 2011 to EUR 315.8m in 2013. In the January-August period, revenue was down 5.8% from the same period last year and 6.2% below plans at EUR 211.9m.

"Both the management and the unions agree that the trend represents an extremely difficult economic situation which demands certain measures," Helios CEO Aleš Klavžar and union representative Tomaž Kumer said in a joint press release.

Helios is one of the tree companies from the list of 15 companies slated for privatisation which have already been sold.

The Austrian Ring International holding bought the group in the spring with the entire takeover valued at around EUR 250m.
