FinMin Mramor: Slovenia Will Continue Reforms, Consolidation!

Mramor was attending his first Eurogroup meeting since taking office and was asked to present the government's reform plans.

He told TV Slovenija that structural reforms and fiscal consolidation would continue along with investments aimed at boosting growth.

The meeting also debated budgetary plans, which the member states need to submit to the EU this week.

Mramor said Slovenia would comply with the commitment to reduce the budget deficit below 3% of GDP next year barring extraordinary events.

However, he said spending would remain at the same level as this year in order to strengthen growth through investment.

Slovenia does not want to have an excessively restrictive fiscal policy as it wants to avoid the economy stalling again, he said.

Given the current budgetary framework, this indicates that the government plans to adopt mostly revenue-side measures.
