New Ministers to be Appointed Next Week
Parliament has already received the formal nominations from Prime Minister Miro Cerar and will adjust the nominations schedule to his wishes, Speaker Milan Brglez said on Tuesday.
Cerar nominated Gojko Koprivec for minister of economic development and technology and Alenka Smerkolj for minister without portfolio for development, cohesion and and EU funds.
He was forced to undertake a government reshuffle less than two months into his government's term after the resignation of two cabinet members.
Smerkolj will take over from Violeta Bulc, who left for a commissioner post in the new European Commission.
Jožef Petrovič meanwhile resigned as economy minister following revelations that the company he headed faced an anti-trust investigation related to a major public contract.
Both candidates are seen as shoo-ins given the statements by Cerar's coalition partners and his insistence that they are competent candidates.
