A liquidation plan will be drawn in 30 days, which will also include a programme for what are presently 160 workers, HSE said in a press release.

The power utility said that liquidation was a better solution than receivership, since it preserved the social security of the workers at least to a certain extent, keeping their number unchanged for two months.

In the meantime, solutions for the redundant workers will be sought actively, while certain activities will continue at TET, such as its services to the Slovenian Agency for Commodity Reserves and the providing of tertiary reserves for transmission system operator ELES.

HSE has been arguing for some time that TET's operations under current conditions are generating a loss, much like in comparable plants around Europe.

The power utility has already called Slovenian energy companies to examine possibilities for hiring TET's workers and HSE feels optimistic after the first reactions, speaking of around 40 jobs.

It added that it remained open to any serious offers for the acquisition of the power plant, which would be the best solution in the long term.

HSE said a few months ago it had received a final bid for its 81.33% stake in the power plant from Edelweiss Investment, a Swiss company owned by Russian millionaire Oleg Burlakov, but the deal reportedly fell through.
