Brglez emphasised the importance of EU macroregional strategies, including for the Danube region, the Adriatic-Ionian region and the Alps, according to a press release from the National Assembly.

The talks also touched on NATO, with Brglez quoted as saying that the two countries shared the same view on how to treat Russia.

While stressing that Slovenia supported the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Brglez said that sanctions against Russia "should not be punitive."

Both officials expressed support for Moldova's EU aspirations. Brglez said Slovenia advocated visa liberalisation as well as the signing of an association agreement.

"It is our duty to share the experience that we have acquired in the EU accession process," Brglez said.

Both speakers also endorsed the continuation of the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo.

As part of his official visit here, Zgonea also met President Borut Pahor and members of the committees on foreign policy and EU affairs.
