Slovenia, who will play their group stage matches in Zagreb, will advance to the knock-out stage if they finish among the top four in the group.

Should Slovenia advance, they will be matched in the elimination stage with one of the top four teams from group D, which features Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Belgium and the Czech Republic.

The Slovenian delegation which attended the draw in Paris, including the new secretary general of the Slovenian Basketball Association Rašo Nesterović and head coach Jure Zdovc, is happy with the outcome.

"Our goals are the highest possible. We have a good team, I believe an even better team than at the last World Cup, and we will be gunning for the top spots," Zdovc told the press, adding that there will be no excuses as Slovenia are playing practically at home.

Team director Matej Avanzo has a good feeling about the draw. "We were given good but beatable opponents. The same is true for the group we are facing in the next round," he said, adding that the team has realistic chances of making it to the quarter-finals.

The 2015 EuroBasket will be played between 5 and 20 September 2015, with the hosting of the group stage divided among Croatia, France, Germany and Latvia.

The knock-out round and the finals will meanwhile be played in France's Lille.

Slovenia booked a ticket to the next year's European basketball championships by virtue of taking fifth place at the EuroBasket 2013, which was hosted by Slovenia.
