According to Pahor's office, the pair exchanged views on internal political issues and possibilities for business cooperation in the Western Balkans.

Pahor told the Austrian president that after five years of economic crisis, Slovenia's economy was expanding and unemployment was dropping.

He said this was a very good signal, which however would have long-term effects only if the necessary structural reforms are carried out. In this respect, 2015 will be a crucial year for Slovenia.

The two presidents positively assessed business cooperation between their countries with Pahor highlighting that Austria had been the top foreign investor in Slovenia for several years in a row.

The problems regarding the financing of a Slovenian music school in Carinthia, where a Slovenian minority lives, was also among the topics of the meeting. Fisher said he had discussed the issue with the government and promised that a systemic solution would be found.

Turning to the Western Balkans, Fischer expressed interest for cooperation with Slovenia within the Brdo regional cooperation process.

The presidents of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Austria and Slovenia held a plenary meeting today with the talks focussing on transport infrastructure. For Slovenia, port operator Luka Koper plays a key role here.

At a working lunch, hosted by Czech President Miloš Zeman, the presidents were expected to touch on key foreign policy challenges for Central Europe, especially the Ukraine crisis and the relations with Russia.

They were also to discuss the prospects of Western Balkan countries and Moldova to join Euro-Atlantic organisations and the issue of foreign terrorist fighters in Syria and Iraq.

The Visegrad Group summit will end on Friday, when the presidents are expected to discuss energy security.
