Ljubljana will host the Golden Gloves Fight Night 1, a boxing spectacle aimed at reviving boxing in Slovenia and presenting it to a broader audience. In the main match of the evening European vice-champion in the U22 division Nejc Petrič will have his debut among the professionals.

The event at Kodeljevo Arena will see Slovenia's best boxers facing off competitors from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Hungary, Romania and Georgia. There will be ten professional matches and two matches following the rules of Olympic amateur boxing.

In the main event of the night, Petrič, the first Slovenian boxer to win a medal at a European Championship, will face Georgian Dimitri Tsiklauri.

"I expect a dangerous and fierce competitor. I'll rely on my experience and technique but there is a big transition from the amateur to the professional category as in addition to speed and technique, effective punches are more impactful," Petrič said, promising an early end of the match.
