Maribor – Opera lovers will be able to enjoy some of the most renowned arias from Italian, French and Slovenian operas at the recently renovated main square in the centre of Maribor on Thursday evening. The Night of the Opera, hosted by the SNG Maribor theatre, will also mark the closing of the opera season.
The concert in front of Town Hall, featuring the Symphonic Orchestra and Choir of the SNG Maribor Opera, and several soloists, will start with the overture to The Italian Girl in Algiers by Gioachino Rossini.
It will continue with arias from The Daughter of the Regiment by Gaetano Donizetti, Princesa Vrtoglavka (The Dizzy Princess) by Josip Ipavec, Carmen by Georges Bizet and Tosca by Giacomo Puccini. The closing performance will be the Triumphal March from Aida.
The Night of the Opera, an admission free event, will also mark the end of the summer event season in Maribor.
Over one thousand seats will be available for those meeting the reconvalescent-vaccinated-tested requirement in a fenced off area.
