Dresden – Anamarija Lampič and Eva Urevc won third place in the team event at the cross-country World Cup in Dresden on Sunday, finishing just 1.21 seconds behind the winners despite a crash in the fifth relay.
The Slovenian duo had the misfortune of the American Jessie Diggins crashing in the fifth round, taking Urevc down with her, which cost her several seconds.
Lampič made up for lost time in the final round but Julia Kern, the second half of the American team, beat her by a tenth of a second across the finish line.
The Swedish pairing of Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist won the event 1.11 seconds ahead of the Americans.
The competitors will now have an extended break before the World Cup resumes in Lenzerheide, Switzerland on 28 December.
