Ljubljana, 20 January – Slovenian President Borut Pahor and Defence Minister Matej Tonin have congratulated Joe Biden after he was inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States on Wednesday.

“Good luck, President Biden,” President Borut Pahor wrote on Twitter. Pahor had already congratulated Biden after he won the election in November, when he voiced the hope that Slovenia and the US would remain friends and firm allies.

Defence Minister Matej Tonin tweeted that Slovenia and the US are “friends and long-time allies,” noting that with Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris, defence and political cooperation can grow even stronger. “This is one of my top priorities in 2021.”
