Čatež ob Savi – Slovenian teams notched up wins in the third round in the European Team Chess Championship of competition on Sunday, as the women’s first team scored the first points by defeating England 3.5:0.5 and the men’s team beat Finland 2.5:1.5 for the second win at the tournament.
The women’s first team now rank 24th, whereas the men’s first team are 14th.
There have been changes at the top of the rankings as well.
In the open competition Azerbaijan are now first with 6 points, followed by Hungary, as Russia suffered their first draw to slip to third place.
In the women’s competition, Russia remain in the lead the lead, followed by Georgia after they defeated previous leaders Azerbaijan.
